‘Live Free, Love Free’, is the motto of Young Native Fashion. A new line and concept developed when Angela DeMontigny
started working with Chinese cross-over star, Ayi Jihu as her personal designer and stylist. Ayi Jihu was so taken with Angela’s work that she asked her to redesign the costume for her upcoming feature film ‘Fear Chaser’.
This led to a friendship and working relationship that inspired DeMontigny to create a new line of fashion and accessories with Ayi as her muse. When asked why she took this direction she replied ‘I have always been a proponent and supporter of racial diversity and have made a point over the years to use models from as many ethnicities as possible in my runway shows.
Working with Ayi gave me a much larger opportunity to incorporate this racial diversity into my fashion designs and by having her as my Brand Ambassador’.
Ayi JIhu models the latest collection along with a number of beautiful and talented Canadian models. Ever the trend setter, DeMontigny made a strong statement about racial diversity when casting the models for the Young Native photo shoot. The new collection boldly illustrates Angela DeMontigny’s signature, edgy style of integrating both traditio
nal native and contemporary elements into her designs, and presents 4 distinct groups within the collection which have their own distinct
